I am inspired by the effect a liberal arts education can have on a person. I am driven by the passion that I have to explore the many facets of the study of the humanities as well as by the rewards that come with helping others do the same. I pursued graduate education both because I am passionate about history and because I want to spread that passion to others. The McKnight Doctoral Fellowship has helped me to worry less about financial issues so that I can concentrate more fully on my work.  Since graduate school is already stressful enough, not having to worry as much about finances can play a crucial role in one’s success.
