I have always been captivated and astounded by the brain, and I hope to continue unraveling its many secrets throughout my career in science. One way in which I am currently doing this is through my work in the lab of Dr. Yi Zhou, where we study the neurobiology of schizophrenia. The NSF GRFP has been such a blessing and will grant me the resources and flexibility to conduct this research and explore a myriad of other neurophysiological questions. By answering these questions, we may be able to help patients with schizophrenia and other debilitating psychiatric and neurological disorders. My goal throughout my graduate studies and future career is to be actively engaged in science discourse both inside and outside of the lab. To that end, I hope to continue expanding my science outreach efforts through the private organization SciWorld, which allows me to share my passion for science with the community and inspire future scientists.
