Motivation to pursue graduate studies at FSU
My motivation to pursue a graduate degree in Social Work stems from my passion for integrating leadership in education with social work principles to create inclusive, supportive learning environments. My background in social work thus far has provided me with a deep understanding of systemic barriers that students face, particularly in marginalized communities, and I see a unique opportunity to blend this knowledge with educational leadership to drive meaningful change. I chose FSU because of its emphasis on leadership development and advocacy, which aligns with my goal of transforming educational institutions into places that promote both academic success and emotional well-being.
Most influential individuals throughout graduate journey
Throughout my graduate journey, I have been profoundly influenced by various individuals, each contributing to my growth and motivation in unique ways. My friends and family have been my steadfast support system, encouraging me during challenging times and celebrating my achievements. Previous educators and mentors have instilled in me the value of education and the importance of integrating social work principles into educational settings, inspiring my commitment to both fields. However, the most significant influence comes from my former students. Their resilience and determination to overcome obstacles serve as a powerful reminder of why I pursued this path. They motivate me to strive for positive change within educational systems, ensuring that every student receives the support they deserve.
Career aspirations
My career aspirations involve integrating social work into a leadership role within the education system, where I can advocate for positive changes in school climate and student well-being. I aim to develop and implement programs that address the diverse needs of students, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment, ultimately creating spaces where every student feels valued and can thrive academically and emotionally.
