”Help others grow through difficulties”
College: Fine Arts
Degree Program: Art Therapy
Degree: Masters
Why FSU?
FSU offers the only public program in the U.S. for art therapy. The faculty of the program are highly esteemed and are hands on in the learning process. The program also has a practicum coordinator who alleviates the stress of having to source a practicum site.
Motivation to pursue a graduate degree
Ultimately, I want to help others overcome difficulties in their life. This goal would not be possible as a career without higher education.
Importance and/or impact of research and work
It’s important to contribute research to the field of art therapy. Being that the field is relatively new, the research is not as cumulative or vast as other fields.
Career aspirations
I plan to obtain licensure post graduation to be a Licensed Professional Therapist (LPC) and a Registered Art Therapist (ATR). I hope to work with clients who have endured trauma and guide them through their healing journey. I aspire to some day own my own private practice offering a range of creative therapies to the community.
Advice for anyone considering graduate school
Trust the process and believe in yourself!
Accomplishments during graduate career
I am a finalist for the the 2024 Graduate Student Excellence in the Visual Arts Award. I am also a member of the Student Art Therapy Association.
Hobbies and interests outside of school
What brings me the most peace and gratitude is creating art. I also enjoy being in nature, whether it’s a hike or kayaking, you can find me outside.
