Degree: Master's

Why FSU?

I chose the Information Technology Program for its flexibility, cost, and career opportunities post graduation. My goal is to continue working in tech from a management/leadership perspective. My undergrad was also at FSU, and my experience was nothing short of the best. It was a no-brainer to pick FSU for graduate school! The best thing about my program is that it’s online!

Motivation to pursue a graduate degree

I wanted to pursue a graduate degree to break generational curses within my family and give back to those who have given back to me. I am first-generation, military, college graduate, member of a Black Greek lettered organization (Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.) and have used my platforms to help others excel and advance in academia and their careers.

Importance and/or impact of research and work

The importance of my work is to remove barriers to entry for minority groups who want to work in technology and business. I help others because no one helped me when I was seeking.

Describe an aspect of your military service that is especially memorable or exceptional

I served in the military (United States Army) for eight years as a Logistics Operations Manager. During that time I have gotten to travel, meet exceptional people, and do amazing things!

Tell us how your military service provided skills and experiences that you were able to apply to your graduate studies.

My military skills taught me about discipline, time management, and project management. Without these, I wouldn’t be as successful as I am today.

Career aspirations

My career aspirations are to continue working in technology and business, while at the same time giving back to others and removing barriers to these fields for minority groups.
