Motivation to pursue an advanced degree and focus of research

Danisha’s work centered around developing and integrating innovative statistical approaches to advance health care research with emphasis on the use of Bayesian analysis and wavelet theory. In addition to pursuing her PhD, she worked on research projects in the Florida State University College of Medicine. There, her work focused on the use of claims data to study medication therapy management programs improvement of short-term medical related outcomes such as reducing expenditures on doctor’s visits and prescriptions.

Accomplishments during academic career

Dr. Baker is a recipient of the McKnight Dissertation Fellowship and was a member of the FSU Fellows Society. During her tenure as a graduate student, she served as a College of Arts and Sciences representative for the Congress of Graduate Students (COGS), a teaching associate for the Program for Instructional Excellence, and on the Fellows Society Advisory Board. Danisha also enjoyed serving as a mentor for the ASA Committee on Minorities in Statistics Diversity Workshop and Mentoring Program.
