Why FSU?

FSU offers a range of graduate programs, including master's, doctorate, and professional degrees. The university is known for its high research activity and exceptional faculty contributions, especially in my field of food science. FSU provides many research opportunities through grants and faculty connections.

Motivation to pursue a graduate degree

A master's degree can boost my career prospects, allowing me to land specialized roles or higher positions. Pursuing a graduate degree also provided me an opportunity to be challenged intellectually, develop critical thinking skills, and expand knowledge while building valuable professional networks.

Importance and/or impact of research and work

My research focuses on extracting valuable compounds like alginate from pelagic sargassum species through volarization. This research promotes the sustainable use of sargassum as a renewable marine resource and can provide a solution to the environmental issues caused by sargassum blooms. Alginate has numerous applications in various industries, making it economically beneficial. Additionally, this research contributes to scientific knowledge in marine biology and biotechnology, potentially leading to future innovations.

Career aspirations

I aspire to contribute significantly to the field of food science. My research focuses on extracting alginate from pelagic sargassum species. I aim to explore all types of seaweed for sustainable and economically viable solutions in the food industry, developing innovative methods for utilization and leading initiatives to bridge the gap between science and industry.
