With over 750 registered student organizations, location in the state's capital (Tallahassee), and opportunities for collaboration with the neighboring Florida A&M University (FAMU), FSU was a premier choice for my Master's in Public Administration. Florida State also has a highly distinguished alumni base, showcasing graduates who have excelled in fields of sports, politics, business, and arts and entertainment.

Motivation to pursue a graduate degree

While undergraduate studies provided me the opportunity to understand the existing knowledge in my field, I believed that graduate school would provide me the opportunity to contribute to that knowledge. Additionally, graduate school is a great place for building a professional network. In the modern world, networking plays an important role in personal, professional, and even government success. The value of forming strong bonds and great relationships cannot be overstated and is what defines us as human beings.

Importance and/or impact of research and work

My research concerns the area of public management and the various issues that are often faced by states, corporations, and public agencies in providing and delivering services. I think that this research is important for the reason that the growth and development of societies is predominantly based on effective administration and a state’s ability to efficiently implement public projects and development undertakings. Efficient public management is the foundation for social advancement, economic prosperity, and the broad-spectrum development of societies.

Tell us about your Fulbright experience

My Fulbright experience at Florida State University has been rewarding. It provided opportunity to collaborate with students from across the world, to learn new cultures, develop new skill sets, and to explore unique research interests. I enjoyed the academic, professional development, and culture components of the program.

Career aspirations

My technical/career interests are public management, program evaluation, projects and strategic planning, legal affairs, regulatory compliance, and nonprofit research.

Advice for anyone considering graduate school

My advice to anyone considering graduate school would be to apply early, be organized, and stay positive. I would also say don’t be afraid to ask questions and also to discuss any past, present, or future research projects and/or interests.
