Why FSU?

I chose FSU for the atmosphere. I feel supported by my classmates and faculty members in the College of Medicine. FSU trains doctors to be empathetic and to always prioritize the needs of our patients. I feel like I will graduate from FSU with a strong knowledge base and confidence in my ability to treat patients.

Motivation to pursue a graduate degree

I pursued a graduate degree in order to become a physician. I love the collaborative environment of the medical field, and I knew I wanted to be a leader in my patient's care. I believe I am receiving great training on my journey to becoming a physician!

Importance and/or impact of research and work

Through the Global Health Collaboration Project, we are completing research to ultimately serve a rural Honduran town, Gracias a Dios. Our goal is to improve access and quality of medical care in Honduras. We are creating a framework that will be transferrable to other rural areas in the world.

Career aspirations

I will be applying to Emergency Medicine residency programs this summer. After residency, I hope to practice as an emergency medicine physician in a rural ER.

Advice for anyone considering graduate school

Always try to find balance! There will always be more work to do. It is important that you make time for the things you enjoy.

Accomplishments during graduate career

I am assistant senior research manager of the FSU-FAMU Global Health Collaboration, the president of Nutrition Exercise and Wellness Interest Group, and the vice president of Wilderness Medical Society.
