Motivation to pursue a graduate degree
My interest in deep convection and thunderstorms, along with my desire to study their physical structure through modeling, has shaped my academic path. This ultimately led me to pursue a PhD at Florida State University, located in one of the most thunderstorm-prone regions in the United States.
Importance and/or impact of research and work
My research focuses on understanding how thunderstorms move air and pollutants from near the surface to higher levels of the atmosphere. During my M.S., I studied how improving the timing and location of thunderstorms in models can better represent this transport. In my Ph.D., I focus on how storms mix with their surrounding environment, a process called entrainment. My goal is to better understand this process and identify ways to improve how weather and climate models represent it.
Career aspirations
My career goal is becoming a research scientist to contribute advancing atmospheric science.
Advice for anyone considering graduate school

Accomplishments during graduate career
My first proud moment was in my second year at FSU, 2023 August: I got invited to AGU Annual Meeting 2023 to present my Master's work. I was very happy to be an invited speaker at "Advancements in Lightning Meteorology, Air Quality, and Climate" session in a prestigious conference. Another proud moment was in 2026, I had the opportunity to chair the “Paving Your Path: Navigating the Job Market” session in AMS Annual Meeting 2026, it was my first time organizing and chairing a session all by myself!
