Motivation to pursue a graduate degree

I was selected by the Korean government for overseas training and chose FSU because I wanted to learn about health-related policy implementation. The government had several restrictions on schools that could conduct overseas training, one of which was that they had to be ranked within the top 40 in their field. FSU's Public Affairs ranking was within the top 40 in 2023, which gave me the basis for applying to FSU.

Importance and/or impact of research and work

I'm currently in my first semester, studying Health Services Org. & Policy and Public Health Epidemiology and Quantitative Analysis in Public Administration. The Health Services Org. & Policy course provides an understanding of American health insurance policies, which are often difficult to understand in Korea. In the remaining two classes, I'm learning about public health epidemiology and quantitative statistics, essential for developing evidence-based health policies.

Career aspirations

To rise as a key talent in the public sector. - Systematic research on overseas policy cases and systems to secure future growth engines for the government.

Advice for anyone considering graduate school

FSU's MPH program is ideal for those seeking a deep understanding of health policy and epidemiology. The professors are professional and passionate, and they continually challenge and innovate in their teaching methods and assignments. Perhaps because the program focuses on the public sector, students are also eager to help one another.

Accomplishments during graduate career

It's still my first semester, so there's not much to do, but some upcoming activities include a trip to the Florida Capitol, volunteer work, an Applied Practical Experience, and participation in the FSU Panama International Program. To be honest, since I'm already a civil servant, I was skeptical about whether I could truly participate in such a career-oriented program. However, I believe it will be a valuable experience, and I'm determined to participate.
