Why FSU?

I was always motivated about using engineering principles to solve medical challenges and improve human health. Thereupon realizing that advancing in this field requires a deeper understanding of both engineering and biological systems, which led me to pursue my PhD. I chose FSU because of its emphasis on cutting-edge research areas such as biomaterials, biomechanics, and medical imaging aligns well with my interests. Additionally, the opportunity to collaborate with top-tier faculty and gain hands-on experience in advanced laboratories makes it an ideal place to grow as a researcher and make meaningful contributions to the field.

Advice for anyone considering graduate school

Be clear about why you’re doing it and what you hope to get out of the experience. Grad school is a major commitment—mentally, emotionally, and often financially—it is about what you learn on the way and how you would apply those in your future. Also a supportive mentor can make a huge difference in your success and well-being. Lastly, the most important thing is to make time for yourself. Burnout is real, and maintaining a balance between academic life and personal health is essential for long-term success.

Accomplishments during graduate career

I have published a paper in a prestigious journal concerning my field of study (Journal of Orthopedic Research) in 2024. I also gave a talk at the Orthopedic Research Society (ORS) conference in Arizona, 2025 and last but not the least I am the lead singer in our band that performs in various cultural events for the registered student organization (RSO of FSU)- The Bengali Association in Tallahassee.
