Urban and Regional Planning

The desire to develop the necessary skills to tackle the tough issues we face as a nation is what has driven me to pursue a PhD in Urban Planning. My current research interests lay in the intersection between environmental justice, transportation, and economics. My research touches on the impact which transportation investment has on low income communities and vulnerable populations. Specifically, I explore the impact which this investment has on affordable housing, employment opportunities, and the mobility of low income residents. Exploring these topics is essential as transportation can serve as a key component in addressing poverty and providing equal opportunity.

My future aspirations include a career in academia. I wish to not only make an impact through the contributions of my research but also through my performance in the classroom. I want to inspire and guide the next generation much like previous professors have inspired me.
