Biomedical Sciences
"In the field of Biomedical sciences, there is a need for better targeted and more efficient therapies for diseases with poor prognosis and low survival rates. Therefore, I spent the past 3 years researching in those fields (particularly Cancer research). I previously worked with scientists in different fields to identifies better cell surface targets to either treat or eradicate cancer cells; I’ve identified many targets and collaborated with scientist in different fields; and together, we came up with new therapies that are now being tested in the clinic. My motivation to continue with higher learning in biomedical research come from believing that as a scientist, we have to make a difference in our community. In my case, the identification of therapeutic targets will evidently result to better therapies resulting to the improvement of people's health in my community. The McKnight Doctoral Fellowship is giving me the platform to make a difference by allowing me to further my education and giving me the resources to do so."
