Motivation to pursue a graduate degree

I knew from a few formative experiences as a young musician that I wanted to see what the apex of my abilities were. I loved teaching, and sought for a way to combine that with my love for performance and the saxophone. FSU felt like the right fit because of both the quality of educator that it has historically produced and the acclaim of the saxophone studio.

Importance and/or impact of research and work

I am currently studying the process that we use to determine that musical literature should be studied in academia. It is important to ascertain the driving force behind modernization in academic music whether social, pedagogical, or a combination of several factors.

Career aspirations

I aspire to become a Professor of Saxophone, write method books, record albums, and play an undeniable role in the advancement of saxophone performance for years to come.

Advice for anyone considering graduate school

Find the program that fits your professional aspirations and find a teacher concerns themselves deeply with your success.

Accomplishments during graduate career

I am especially proud to have performed with the New World Symphony this past January. Collaborating with so many new musicians and the wonderful staff at the NWS was both a personal milestone and rewarding artistic experience.
