Why FSU?

As I realized chemistry was my passion, I knew the best place that could help me realize this dream was that of Florida State. Go Noles!

Motivation to pursue a graduate degree

For as long as I can remember, I knew that no matter what I did for a career, I wanted to help people.

Importance and/or impact of research and work

During my undergraduate degree, much of my work involved the hybrid synthesis of organic/inorganic semiconductors. These materials can be designed for a variety of applications including water purification, gas storage, and energy storage. Should widespread use of these materials be made possible, it would allow for much more environmentally sound production of various electronics.

Career aspirations

Following graduation at FSU, I wish to complete a post-doctoral fellowship at an R1 school. Eventually, my goal is to lead a lab of my own focusing on the green production of advanced materials for all.

Advice for anyone considering graduate school

Reach out to as many people as you can to review your application answers, whether they be professors, research advisors, peers, or even your family. Do not be shy about emailing the school you wish to apply to with any questions you may have!

Accomplishments during the graduate career

I am proud to be a recipient of the following awards and grants: the Summer AIR Research Grant, the Clear Springs Land Undergraduate Research Award, the ABRCMS Certificate of Achievement for Outstanding Presentation in Chemistry, and the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship.
