"Science informing policy, making a difference."
College: Arts and Sciences
Degree Program: Aquatic Environmental Sciences
Degree: Master's
Award: Florida Gubernatorial Fellowship (2017)
I have always believed that the best policy decisions come from informed decision makers, so I wanted to have the option to pursue both science and policy while at Florida State. Pursuing my graduate degree in Aquatic Environmental Science has allowed me to advance my scientific knowledge and skills through my graduate degree, while also gaining experience in policy and government through internships and fellowships.
The Florida Gubernatorial Fellowship will truly allow me to gain the policy experience I need to make a positive difference in natural resource management. Having a background in both science and government will allow me to advocate for and protect our natural resources through education, outreach, and policy.
Ideally, over the next year, I will create relationships and gain experience that will allow me to start my career as a public servant with NOAA, USFWS, or FWC.
