"I am a lifelong learner"
College: Criminology and Criminal Justice
Degree Program: Criminology
I attended FSU from 1982-1986 when I achieved a BS in Criminology. I decided to return to FSU as a way to "paint the walls" while things were slow during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown.
Motivation to pursue a graduate degree
It has always been on my bucket list, but my career and life always got in the way. During the lockdown, I decided to make productive use of the time available.
Importance of research and work
I haven't launched any direct research, but I am considering looking at how emerging novel life stressors and risk factors may provoke an increase of threats from insiders. I am considering a research effort looking at how the pandemic (environment not the disease) increased these threats from a criminalistic perspective.
Describe an aspect of your military service that is especially memorable or exceptional
The people! I am honored to have served continuously on active duty in the US Army for twenty-five and a half years and then another five and a half years as a government civilian. Due to this career, I have traveled to more than sixty-five countries around the world and have met or worked with some of the most fascinating people.
Tell us how your military service provided skills and experiences that you were able to apply to your graduate studies
I am a retired US Army colonel and former Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service intelligence professional from the US Intelligence Community. I was able to weave a number of life or career memories and lessons learned into my graduate efforts.
