Why FSU?
I went to FSU for undergrad and thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere, community, and athletic events. FSU's College of Law has been such a welcoming and encouraging place. FSU's location in the state capital allows me to gain experience in and exposure to all branches of state government. The college also offers programs for the kind of law I want to practice, and I'm excited to be a double 'Nole!
Motivation to pursue a graduate degree
I want to practice law in a way that pushes society toward a more just, effective, and productive model for all. For me, that means working within state government processes so that I can learn more about the system and where it can improve. I also enjoy helping make sure the government works smoothly and according to the law by helping non-attorney government employees understand the legal aspects of their jobs.
Career aspirations
I want to work as an attorney within a state agency or state legislature, or as a criminal justice lawyer who helps pursue a more just society and equitable future.
Advice for anyone considering graduate school
Go with the school and course of study that makes you feel most welcome and excited to learn. Your graduate studies should help you pursue your passions, or unlock some you didn't know existed. Only the right community and academic home can help you do that, and it's important that you trust yourself on what's right for you!
Accomplishments during graduate career
I am proud to have been awarded the Florida Legislative Fellowship, the Dean's Merit Full Tuition Scholarship, and the Terry E. and Georgann P. Lewis Endowed Scholarship
