Motivation to pursue a graduate degree

My mother went to FSU and never got to finish, so I decided to come here. The Clinical Social Work Program was also better than all of the schools that I have looked at. Doing the campus tour helped with my decision because I thought it was beautiful.

Importance and/or impact of research and work

I am doing research on veteran healthcare and how to improve it. I also focus on issues that influence the high stress levels for active duty and reserve service members. I have first-hand experience with these issues, and I would like to find healthier ways to combat stress.

Career aspirations

My ultimate goal is to open a mental health clinic for veterans or active-duty service members. To achieve this goal, I need my License in Clinical Social Work (LCSW) and experience, which this program provides.

Advice for anyone considering graduate school

My advice to someone considering graduate school is to work hard but know when to take a break. It is great to work towards a goal, but it is more important to take care of yourself when necessary.

Accomplishments during graduate career

I am currently a part of the Veteran Student Union, serving its assistant director. It is a great opportunity to talk to not only student veterans, but the rest of the student population on campus as well.
