Scientific Training in Addiction Research Techniques (START) program
The Scientific Training in Addiction Research Techniques (START) program is a comprehensive research education program dedicated to enhancing the substance misuse research workforce. START trainees will be provided with a $4,000 stipend and use the data from the Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study (www.ABCDstudy.org). START trainees will participate in a hybrid training curriculum to gain the skills needed to conduct research using the ABCD study.

Mellon/ACLS Dissertation Innovation Fellowship
Provides a one-year $50,000 award to support for doctoral students preparing to embark on innovative dissertation research projects in the humanities and interpretive social sciences. The fellowships are designed to intervene at the formative stage of dissertation development, before research and writing are advanced. The program seeks to expand the range of research methodologies, formats, and areas of inquiry traditionally considered suitable for the dissertation.

DoD SMART Fellowship
The Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Scholarship-for-Service Program awards full-tuition STEM scholarships for a range of eligible fields. Funded by the Department of Defense, SMART offers a unique education and workforce development opportunity. During degree pursuit, SMART scholars receive an annual stipend enabling them to focus on their studies. Then, scholars dive into exciting summer internships at world-class DoD facilities during school breaks.

Graduate Fellowships for STEM Diversity (GFSD)
All GFSD Fellows receive $20,000 in funding to go toward their graduate stipend. Fellowships are renewable annually in discussion with partner agencies and fellowships are typically offered to 3-6 years. In addition to funding, the fellowship provides an opportunity to participate in paid summer internships at federal agencies or companies.

American Association of Petroleum Geologists Foundation Grants-in-Aid
The AAPG Foundation Grants-in-Aid provides financial assistance to graduate students whose thesis research has application to the search for and development of petroleum and energy-mineral resources, and/or to related environmental geology issues. Awards range from $500 to $3,000 and cover expenses directly related to the student's research, such as field work and laboratory analyses.

Boren Fellowship
Boren Fellowships fund research and language study proposals by U.S. graduate students in world regions critical to U.S. interests. Proposed programs of two or more semesters are strongly encouraged. Maximum awards are determined by duration abroad: up to $25,000 for 25-52 weeks (preferred); up to $12,500 for 12-24 weeks
