McKnight Doctoral Fellowship
I will earn a Ph.D. in criminology because I am interested in the causes of crime and, more importantly, how it can be prevented. I am eternally grateful for the support that the Florida Education Fund has provided me by means of the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship. Being a McKnight Fellow means that I will have financial support through the extent of my graduate studies. However, being a McKnight means much more than that. It means that I have the unwavering emotional support of my McKnight family, which includes other McKnight fellows and inspirational mentors who guide me through the trials and tribulations of graduate school. Obtaining a doctoral degree in criminology will help me accomplish two things. First, it will equip me with the knowledge and skills to be a professor, allowing me the privilege of teaching the next generation of eager criminologists. Secondly, and most importantly, it will empower me to be an example for individuals who do not believe that they are good enough to make their dreams a reality simply because of where they came from.
